The fact that Ciara got married near Liverpool has lived rent-free in my mind since July 2016...

Yep you read that right: 'My Goodies','1, 2-Step' Ciara and fiance Russell Wilson got married near Liverpool in July 2016 and that fact has lived rent-free in my head ever since!

It's the 'but HOW did these two American mega stars end up staying in Liverpool and getting married in Cheshire... HOW?!' for me. No matter how many times I mull it over, it's equally confusing and amazing to think of them scouting venues that are beyond most people's wildest dreams then landing on Liverpool and having the most beautiful English country wedding. Hence this blog.

Quick recap...

Their first official appearance together was at the White House in 2015. They got engaged in the Seychelles in March 2016. Married in July 2016. Fast forward to 2020 and they're a happy family of 5 including their latest addition- baby Win Harrison Wilson. Any planners & brides reading this have fully realised by now that it took 4 months to plan this wedding & make the dress. I repeat: 4 months.

The How...

Initially the couple were meant to get married in New Orleans but decided against it after the Deep South State was one of the few that passed a 'bill in 2016 that ordered bathrooms in public schools and on government property restricted to the sex listed on a person’s birth certificate' (Nola.com). Their list of options also included Paris but a little thing called 'Fashion Week' got in the way, so onto plan Cheshire...

Who planned it...

No big surprises that the GOAT of wedding & party planning Mindy Weiss was the mastermind behind this wedding! Introduced to Ciara after working with Lala on her wedding to Carmelo Anthony, Weiss mentioned that she'd 'done the whole thing three times' when it came to pitching wedding location ideas to the Wilsons before setting their sights on Peckforton Castle.

The night before...

The couple held their wedding rehearsal dinner at the stunning Titanic Hotel in Liverpool- a 4-star, 153-bedroom, converted warehouse based on a UNESCO World Heritage site just outside of the city centre. Their 110 guests probably stayed in this gorgeous hotel which boasts rooms starting at 56sqm each- the average hotel room size is around 32.5sqm FYI (TravelPulse.com).

One of the guests, little old Jennifer Hudson, posted a selfie on the infamous staircase of the Hard Days Night Hotel- a nearby 4-star, Beatles-inspired hotel which includes a 'John Lennon suite' featuring a white baby grand piano that I think had JHud written all over it! Obviously not literally... that thing is priceless... as is JHud. Sidebar: Justin Bieber also stayed here in 2011 in the Mcartney suite causing chaos in the streets when his army of Scouse Beliebers serenaded him all day and night!

The wedding venue...

The couple got married in front of their 110 guests at Peckforton Castle, a 19th Century, Grade I listed castle set in '36,000 acres of sprawling green Cheshire countryside' based under an hour away from Liverpool. The venue includes an onsite chapel but this was too small for Ciara's 13-foot dress so they said their 'I Do's' in the breathtaking 'Great Hall' instead, surrounded by "all whites and creams" flowers by McQueens.

The dress code...

Ciara wore custom-made Giusseppe Zanotti heels & a 13-foot dress by Roberto Cavalli's Peter Dundas made in under 4 months, with only three fittings beforehand which took place in New York (during the Met Ball), Milan then finally in the UK. The Groom & Groomsmen, including Ciara's son, Future Zahir, all wore Giorgio Armani suits while the bridal party (including Lala Anthony & Kelly Rowland, but not Serena Williams who was busy winning her 22nd Grand Slam title at Wimbledon) wore unique aubergine 'beautiful black stretch satin' dresses by Michael Costello (Graziamagazine.com).

This wedding will forever sit firmly in my mind for it's beauty, glamorous guestlist and the fact that technically, it can be claimed as a beautiful scouse wedding! I appreciate that's a reach but Ciara's middle name is also 'Princess' aka 'Prin' and there I rest my case.
